Among several fantastic exhibitions, notably on view there is "It's Alive! Classic Horror and Sci-Fi Art from the Kirk Hammond (Metallica) Collection"

Finally, where I work at the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly (3 miles from Salem) we have three shows that I curated on view:

I am happy to give a tour of the School and exhibitions this Thursday, October 5 at 10:00 am, otherwise the hours are 12-6!

What to Wear

Hello All,

We have received some inquiries about what to wear at our wedding. The event is formal, so please come dressed in formal attire. This includes tuxedos (optional), dark suits, long evening dresses, dressy pant/skirt suits, and cocktail dresses. Also, consider the fall weather of New England. On average, you can expect highs in the mid-60s and lows in the 40s at night. Our wedding is taking place in a gorgeous castle in the spooky and decadent month of October. So, if you wish, don a formal costume in the style of Steampunk, Medieval, Renaissance, Elizabethan and the like. Costumes are by no means required. We want everyone to feel comfortable enough to have an excellent time.

We look forward to seeing you all in October!

Pre-Wedding Photos at Haunted Overload!

So excited to receive our Pre-Wedding Photos from Linda Jennings Photography

Haunted Overload was perfection; we couldn't imagine a better backdrop!!

Wedding Lodging Options - Air BnB

Hello all!

As mentioned in our last post, our room block at the Wylie is close but NOT YET FULL! They will be the best rate and location near Salem.

However, if it does fill up, we recommend staying in the following nearby towns: Boston, Beverly, Peabody, Gloucester, Manchester by the Sea, Rockport and Marblehead. Please try to avoid staying in or near Lynn or Danvers, as those towns have some rough spots.

Do feel free to reach out with questions about lodging, where to stay, etc. We are happy to assist, as we want to make sure everyone has a safe and fun stay.

We have also provided some nicely priced Air BnB listings below:

Wedding RSVP by August 1st, 2017!!

Greetings friends and family!

We are so excited that our wedding date is almost upon us - less than 3 months! With that in mind, we would like to remind our invitees that if you have not returned your RSVP card yet,  please do so by August 1st. Be sure to also include your meal choices for yourself and guest. We will need final head counts for catering and the table/chair provider.

If you have lost your card and meal insert, please feel free to submit your RSVP info via our Facebook wedding group page or by email: mollybliss@gmail.com

Also, since our wedding room block at the Wylie Inn is full, I will be posting a list of Air BnB options.

Our ceremony and reception will take place inside Hammond Castle in Gloucester, MA.

We will have the whole castle and grounds open to our party!

Enjoy!

We have arranged a hotel block at the Wylie Inn in Beverly, MA.

Indicate you're a part of the Cook/Lewis Wedding in October 2017 to get the special rate.

The Wylie Inn and Conference Center has a unique history that dates as far back as 1901. The three buildings that comprise the property, Tupper Manor, the Conference Center and Wylie Inn help to make this one of the most distinctive properties among New England Inns, each with its own story to tell.

If you are able to attend, we HIGHLY suggest you make your reservations immediately. The block rate is for Queen rooms at $209 per night.

With the fervor of Halloween, everything fills up extremely quick on the North Shore. You are more than welcome to find accommodations in Salem, though they will be more limited and expensive. Gloucester is another beautiful town if you want a quieter area to stay.

That being said...Beverly is a small town between Salem and Gloucester, and is coincidentally where Nathan works at the Montserrat College of Art.  Beverly boasts as interesting a history as its more popular neighbor Salem.

 - It was home to numerous accusers and accused during the Witchcraft Hysteria of 1692.
The beautiful hiking and biking conservation area, Beverly Commons, is known by locals as The Witches Woods, as it served as a refuge for those fleeing persecution. Unsurprisingly the woods are also home to ghosts and haunted houses.

- Around the North Shore of MA in general you will notice a lot of roads and places called "Watch Hill", "Watch Lane", etc...they were originally called "Witch ______" but the names were changed in the last decades.

- Beverly was once known as the "Gold Coast." It was the playground for the opulently wealthy including many Presidents and titans of industry. Their mansions rivaled those of Newport, Rhode Island.

- The small California outcropping of Beverly Hills draws its name from Beverly, MA.

- The Ouija board you have in your closet was likely made in Beverly, where the Parker Brothers' produced them (after manufacturing in Salem!) Check your box and planchette, 9/10 chance, if it was made roughly between 1970-1990, it was made in Beverly.

- Beverly is the birthplace of America's Navy! (a fact claimed by other neighboring towns...but still
